Thursday morning a passerby around 5am reported flames coming from The Schoolhouse roof formerly Sperryville's original school built in circa 1909.Currently being used as a community/conference center and the oldest portion getting ready to open with multiple antique shops. The fire was stared from a faulty boiler which overheated and ignited the wooden roof system. The fire was contained in about 60 minutes and units left the scene by 7:30. A rekindle occured about 9 am and required more extensive overhaul due to blown in ceiling. Units remained on the scene for another 3 hours removing ceiling and exterior gable soffit and facial board to assure any hidden hot spots were removed.
